THE LAST MINUTE TOY STORE WILL BE DECEMBER 19-22, 2012 AT SIXTY-FIRST AVENUE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 6018 NEW YORK AVENUE, NASHVILLE, TN 37209
Each year for the past eighteen years, The Last Minute Toy Store, a ministry of Sixty-First Avenue United Methodist Church of Nashville, Tennessee has distributed free toys and other gifts to thousands of low-income children and youth who live in Davidson County. Working in cooperation with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s “Toys for Tots” program and other local toy providers, the “Last Minute” Toy Store is for low-income families who did not pre-register with those other providers earlier in the fall.
In December of 2011, the Last Minute Toy Store served 4,674 children and youth from over 1,400 families – distributing over 20,000 toys/gifts to go along with books, oranges, and candy canes given to each child.
This is truly a labor of love for those involved, and it takes a lot of hands to pull off this ministry. Several hundred volunteers from numerous churches and the community at large are involved each year. Many of these good people have been doing this every year the Last Minute Toy Store has existed. They often say Christmas would not be the same without helping out at the Last Minute Toy Store. To receive toys, to donate toys or dollars, or to see how to volunteer click the appropriate pages.
